March 29 : zen : lazy weekend mornings ... that's my zen time!
I have decided to do my ten photos on a weekend even when the tenth falls on a weekday because on a day like today, I wouldn't even be able to think about taking a photo I was so busy at the office. Besides, the weekends are way more photogenic! So this is my Sunday : woke up to John Legend singing me "good morning" : brunch with my amazing friend Laura who just finished her last round of chemo (yay!) and I had to get a photo of her in the adorable pink monkey cap - on loan from a friends daughter (how sweet is that?) : took a little photo walk downtown and captured a couple of spots I have been searching for - this view of where all the L train lines come together (love) : then some shopping at West Elm, and Jayson Home (oh this place is a designers dream) where I picked up a beautiful little fern and a succulent - had no idea they aren't to be watered and are to just die after a few months (hmmm) : picked up some pastries at Patisserie Coralie for dinner and then logged a little sofa time with Phoebe and the housewives of ... (wink)
March 6 : remedy : my happy pill.
Feb 20 2015 : this is so me! Always taking photos. Always sharing photos. Always traveling. That's me! Where should I go next?
Feb 8 2015 : in my bag : lots of stuff
Jan 27 2015 : morning : tea, the Today Show and Instagram feed. ( granola not pictured - ha!)
I ran across this link up on Kiki's blog and thought hmmm... what would my list be. I always loved playing this back in school. You find out so much about a person you didn't know before - even if you thought you knew them really well. So let's see...
:: Run a marathon or even had any desire to... I have terrible knees so my days of running ended in high school gym class.
:: Been a coffee drinker. Love the smell, but not the taste. So many deserts get passed up too because they use some kind of espresso or coffee in the mix. Give me tea all day any day!
:: Seen the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls or Mount Rushmore. All are on the list of must sees!
:: Been married. I just haven't found that guy that I felt I couldn't live without. Hope to someday though. ;) I have, however, been maid of honor and a bridesmaid more times than you can count! I've even photographed a wedding!
:: Seen the Northern Lights in person. I hope to change this in 2015!
:: Had a dog as a pet. I'm a cat girl, they are better cuddlers (is that a real word?) and much lower maintenance.
:: Been scuba diving. I am horribly claustrophobic and would not do well with this kind of activity. I would be the one freaking out that the dive guide would have to rescue. Sad, but true. I will have to rely on others to tell/show me the beautiful ocean life.
:: Learned the mathematics of photography. f stops, ISOs and when to use what with what. I would have been a horrible photographer in the days of film.
:: Been to all 50 states. I think I should make this a goal.

Only a couple of weeks into the year and I've checked off another bucket list item - attend the Lyric Opera here in Chicago. Check! One of my friends hit me up mid afternoon saying she had an extra (free) ticket for tonights performance of Anna Bolena, so I jumped at the chance. It was in Italian, of course, with english subtitles which I found helpful - the only other opera I've seen was IN Italy and also in Italian no subtitles. I thought they did a great job of using the set, the voices were amazing - the lead actually suffering from a throat infection only made it about 3/4 of the way through before her understudy came in for the last few sets. Both were outstanding and the transition was pretty seamless - I've never see this happen during a show. A perfectly delightful way to spend a winter evening.
Jan 15 2015 : old : my favorite family pic : my grandfather Sloan as a young boy. I love the texture, color, paper and presentation, exposure - it's just so cool. Photography is cool. And, of course, love his little bow tie and knickers.
Jan 14 2015 : new : my new favorite drink is a limonata from Portofino Italy. I am so thankful that they sell it at Eataly. I am completely hooked!!!
