social sunday : my first

1. What is something you have wanted to do but are afraid of?
Skydive! I am a little bit of an adrenaline junkie - roller coasters & etc. I think skydiving would be amazing, but I would be scared to death to actually do it!
2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I am pretty happy with my life. There is only one piece of the puzzle to fill - a husband - and I would hope that I can find him in the next 5 years.
3. What are you looking forward to before the end of 2012?
Live music, theater (kinky boots and book of mormon) travel, seeing old friends and new, the holidays.
4. What are your hopes for your blog?
The only goal I have for my blog is that it accurately portrays my life. It is my online journal in both words and photos. I hope to one day be able to consolidate the gazillion blogs I've had since 2005 into a single home online.
5. Do you always see yourself living in your current town/city?
Gosh I hope so! I moved to Chicago seventeen years ago. I am a small town girl turned city girl for sure! Maybe when I retire I will seek somewhere warmer, smaller, slower moving... but Chicago is my home now!
6. What is your morning routine?
6:30 wake - shower - eat breakfast (with the Today Show) - feed the cats - make up/hair - dress and hit the road around 8:45 with a venti iced tea!

150 MCA KUAA day
Attended a KU Alumni Association event at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Saturday. We had an artist (from Pilsen) take us around to certain works of art and give her interpretation of it's meaning, which I found to be a great change compared to a docent. She was really good with our small, but diverse group of people. The museum was completely full and the exhibits right now are superb. I thought the Skyscraper rooms were particularly good! A really powerful display around 9.11. Thanks to the KUAA for putting this even together - it was so great meeting Teri and Nikki, both in from Lawrence.

211 flea market finds
I ventured to St. Charles for the Kane County Flea Market today with Amanda. I am not a huge fan of flea markets since I'm not really into vintage stuff. I like a little here and there, but I kind of feel like ... if I'm going vintage it should mean something to me. That said ... I will go anywhere just for the experience. And I had heard this flea market was particularly good.
I was totally impressed with the amount of vendors - LOTS! And I managed to pick up some fabulous little treasures. A vintage light meter (how cool is that for eight bucks?), a collection of "Y" letterpress blocks, a super cool handmade bag (because I need another bag like I need a hole in the head -- but it's cool) and then the steal of the show... a vintage chevron quilt. I spotted it and originally passed it by and then circled back. I have been talking with my mother about making me something like this and voila! As you can see the kitties have already adopted it. Lucy is lounging on it as I type!
I give the Kane Co. Flea two thumbs up!
215 new ride
226 test drive
Had to see if I could fit into our make-shift parking space at the office. It's doable, but wicked tight. Will take a lot of practice to make this work everyday.

227 on the juice
So to combat my back pain my PT and doctor prescribed me a short corse of 'roids to try and reduce the swelling between my L2 and L3 once and for all. Luck me huh? Well, the only positive today is that taking this mass of pills seemed to sit OK with me. Other than that it was a positively crap ass day. Coworker drama. Scheduling drama. Worked till 8 on a Friday night (what the heck is wrong with me?) and had to go to two stores to pick up something, neither of which had what I needed. Oh and all of that with a huuuuge tension headache that I cannot take Advil to relieve ... not my best of Fridays. But my weekend is wide open and full of great possibilities. I just need to stay clear of the city and all of the NATO madness!
